Hong Kong’s prosecution has pressed 25 charges including manslaughter and conspiring to defraud, against two firms and seven people following an incident of fatal fire at Wang Fuk Housing Estate that led to 168 fatalities in November 2025. An inquiry found that the disaster, which had become Hong Kong’s worst fire accident in 70 years, was a result of negligence on part of humans as well as the use of flammable materials and deactivated fire alarms while undertaking the building's renovations. In addition to manslaughter, the accused were also charged with anti-corruption, including tender fraud, money laundering, and deceiving the investigating team.
